When Not to Water

If your soil is the proper pH, you have the right grass for your conditions, and you keep up with maintenance, seasonal rainfall should be enough to keep your lawn healthy.

During hot dry spells, cool season grasses may go dormant and turn brown without extra water, but they will green up again in the fall.

Warm season grasses can tolerate dry spells and will remain green throughout the summer without watering.
